Updates - 2009

I suppose it is time to update this blog. It has been a very very busy year and it will soon be coming to a close. Some major highlights:

1)Frances graduated from high school in June; she applied for and was accepted to an internship in Sacramento for 6 months. Following the internship Frances will start classes at Modesto Junior College. She says she wants to focus on International Ag-Business and Political Science. We are so proud of her accomplishments in FFA and her passion for wanting to give something back to a program that she loved in high school and that set her on a path of discovery for her future endeavors. The photos below is of Frances and her good friends on prom night. She was so lovely, words cannot express.

2) Erin started high school this fall! She loves her classes and all of the teenage fun that goes along with being in high school. She attended her first back to school dance and the Homecoming Dance...check out her photo below. She was so pretty that night and so excited to be doing what all the other teenagers her age were doing.

3) We took a family vacation to Maui again this year and everyone learned to surf, except for Frances who was unable to go on the trip due to FFA commitments. She' coming with us in 2010 though, so Erin will have to show Frances the surfing ropes!

4) My mother and dad visited this summer and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Cris and I took them back to Parker's Lighthouse in Long Beach where they celebrated their 30th anniversary so many years ago. It was fun to go back to the same place and have dinner with my parents again and walk along Shoreline Village enjoying the warm Southern California summer evening. Maybe even a little romantic for my mom and dad too! The photo was taken with my sister Peg and her husband and three sons. Note my son is missing from the photo as he decided that he was DONE with the whole photo taking ordeal for the day and of course Gillian is covering her face...ah, the joys of trying to take good photos of my children!

5) We visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library again and got to see and tour the old Air Force 1! That was something awesome. The library is amazing and if you haven't had a chance to visit it, I highly recommend it! It is locacted in Simi Valley, CA. Plan on going for the day. It is definately worth it.

6) Disneyland was one of our stops this year too. With Erin, Nathan, and Gillian, still at home, Disneyland is a favorite and we spent 4 days just relaxing and having fun. As you can see I have two Indiana Jones fans!

7) Nathan and Gillian adopted two baby ducks this summer, "Squirt" a black duck and "Flag" a yellow duck. The yellow duck died a couple of months later, but "Squirt" went on to live at a farm with a bunch of other ducks in Gilroy thanks to Frances and her farm connections. Whew!

8) We welcomed a new AuPair from Finland this year to our home and family. She looks like Snow White don't you think? We think it will be a great year!

9) Nathan celebrated his 6th birthday and had a fun fun day at school and at home.

10)Thanksgiving is approaching and we will be spending it up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at a quaint little cabin in Pinecrest. Can't wait for the turkey and all the goodies that go along with it. Then Christmas and finding that all perfect tree and decorations. What a fun way to end a really really busy year!
