Camp Hammer

This evening we dropped Frances off at Camp Hammer in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It's a Christian Youth Camp that she discovered through her friends from St. Joseph of Cupertino. There are about 12 girls who go every year and last year Frances was invited. She fell in love with the program and absolutely HAD to go again this year. She will stay a week, so we'll pick her up on Saturday around lunch time.

Erin is spending the week with her cousin Katie. Erin is so excited to have Katie all to herself for the week. Not sure what the girls plans are yet, but I'm sure there's a visit to the movie theatre sometime this week, perhaps two, since Erin is huge movie fan and there are several new movies out this week, like Charlie and Chocolate Factory, Herbie, and one about Penguins.

We really appreciate Katie taking a week out of her summer vacation to spend with Erin and to help us out while Frances is away at camp. Course there's a monetary reward, but that does not take away from Erin's joy of being with Katie for a whole week. Frances graciously offered her room for Katie to stay in while she is away.

Frances took the digital camera with her to camp, so we expect that she will come home with loads of fun pictures to share with everyone. When Frances went on the East Coast Trip in April of this year, she took tons of pictures and prepared a Powerpoint presentation for everyone to see after the trip. She did an outstanding job setting up the presentation giving us a day by day snapshot of all the sites they visited. I was very impressed.

Photography seems to be Frances' interest right now. Not sure if it will continue, but at the moment she seems to really enjoy this form of expression. She's not so much into the aperture settings, but she definitely looks at things like distance, light, and balance, and position.
