Erin's Opening Night - Mulan

Tonight is opening night for Erin's musical Mulan at her middle school. She is sooooooooo excited and looks great in her costume. She plays a daughter in the musical and has 3 small parts where she mingles with the villagers in one scene, is one of the children who is killed in the city that Shan Yu burns (she plays dead on stage), and finally is one of the villagers at the Imperial City who bows before the Emperor. She also sings as part of the ensemble throughout the musical. Erin has worked really hard for 2 months getting ready for the show. The production has been crazy because almost all of the costumes had to be made as well as the props the and stage set. Many many hours went into the production not only by the kids but by the parents and volunteers as well. It's really sad that the school district does not provide any funding the for the arts and music programs anymore. The musical is considered like the sports programs to be an extra curricular activity that takes place outside of school time. At any rate these kids have four full nights of performances beginning tonight. Tickets to all the shows were sold out the first week, which is awesome because there are ususally seats available for last minute buys but not this time. Each show seats about 220 people. Break a leg Erin!!!!
